Now that all the Holiday decorations are down, and nestled away until next year, its time to start thinking about spring ahead, and some simple steps you can take to spruce up your home decor!

1. Add a fresh coat of paint. Its the least expensive way of totally changing the look and feel of your space. The trend for 2011 is a softer more subdued color palet. Try Benjamin Moore “Violet Mist” it pairs beautifully with soft muted “wisteria” tones. A great fabric to pair with this color is Shumacher’s “Shantung Silhouette”. Its not purple, and its not Grey, but that perfect somewhere in between! The look is sophisticated and elegant.

2. Bring Nature Indoors. Head out to your favorite flower shop, or your local supermarket, and pick up a bunch of fresh cut flowers. Try a classic bunch of white roses, or tulips. Put them next to your bed or on a dresser. You will think your in a 5-Star hotel! If you really want to go all the way take a trip down to your nearest Nordstrom or go online www.nordstrom.com and select one of “Jo Malones” beautifully scented candles! They are on the pricey side, but will last you all year long!

3. Throw it around. Toss out those dated throw pillows that have been on your couch for years. Head out to my favorite guilty pleasure, Homegoods (www.homegoods.com) and jazz up your living or family room with a new collection of pillows. Remember always think in odd numbers, so pick 3!  While your at it look for a new area rug that matches your new color scheme!

Window decorations are the grand finishing touch in a room. More than most components of design,they are charged with multiple roles embracing beauty and function a celebration of color and grand details. On the practical side, they control light and ventilation and provide the sheltering luxury of privacy.
